Da tempo immemorabile si svolge a Cusano Mutri, nel giorno del Corpus Domini, l’Infiorata. Essa è il vanto dei cittadini e degli artisti locali che, per la sua realizzazione, si avvalgono delle risorse floreali che offre spontaneamente la natura del circondario, solo in mancanza di specifici colori si ricorre ai fiori di coltivazione.Piazza Orticelli, Piazza Roma, Piazza Lago e l'interno delle due Chiese di San Giovanni Battista e dei SS. AA. Pietro e Paolo sono ricoperte,con perfezione artistica da tappeti floreali raffiguranti scene tratte dal Vangelo o che richiamano i valori sociali. Alcuni giorni prima della festa, centinaia di donne, uomini, bambini e giovani sí ríversano nei campi dei dintorni per spogliarli dei loro fiori splendenti dai più vivi colori per essere usati nella tessitura di morbidi e vellutati disegni la mattina del Corpus Domini. Data la delicatezza del materiale, il tappeto comincia a prendere forma solo verso le cinque del mattino del giorno di festa, dopo che il giorno precedente si è provveduto a tracciare il disegno sulla sede stradale. Allora le vie, le strade e le piazze si riempiono di tutti gli artefici dell’Infiorata che, prendono a riempire le varie parti con petali vario pinti, proprio come farebbe un pittore nell’atto di dipingere il suo più bel capolavoro. Il tappeto sarà composto da quadri che misurano 3.30x5.80 m., realizzati nelle piazze e nelle vie del paese e da tappeti di circa 20 m. di lunghezza nelle due chiese principali. I soggetti dei quadri sono esaminati da un’apposita commissione formata dai componenti della Pro~Loco, dell’Amministrazione Comunale e da cittadini che si occupano della realizzazione di questa prestigiosa manifestazione. Oltre all’infioramento delle strade, la manifestazione prevede altre iniziative per il fine settimana: mostre di pittura, scultura e di fotografie. H.S

The Decking with flowers
Since the very old times, in Cusano Mutri, the Decking with Flowers occurs. That is the pride of the citizens and of the local artists who, forits carrying out, use the floral resources that the nature spontaneously offers. Just in case some colours are missing, they resort to the cultivation flowers. Piazza Orticelli, Piazza Roma, Piazza Lago and the interior of two churches of Saint John Baptist and the SS. Peter and Paul are covered, with artistic perfection, by floral carpets that show scenes from the Gospel or scenes that remind of the social values. Some days before the festival, a hundred of women, men, children and young people go to the fields around, in order to deprive them of the wonderful and colourful flowers they have. These flowers will be used in making clothes’ drawings during the morning of the Corpus Domini. Due to the delicacy of the material, the carpet starts to take form around five in the morning of the festival’s day. At that time the streets, the roads and the squares fill with all the makers ofthe Decking with Flowers; they begin to fill various areas with colourful petals, as they were painted. The carpet will be composed by pictures that measure 3.30x 5.80 meters, all realized in the town’s squares and streets, and by pictures around 20 meters long to be sited in the two main churches. The subjects of the pictures are examined by a special commission formed by members of the Pro-loco, of the Communal Administration and by the citizens who realize the making of this important celebration. Besides the streets’ adorning with flowers, the celebration holds other initiatives for the weekend: exhibitions of paintings, sculptures and photographs.
