Il sabato e la domenica successivi alla Pasqua a Prata di Principato Ultra in provincia di Avellino, si svolge una festa in onore della Madonna Annunziata. Due bambine vestite da angeli vengono sospese in aria per mezzo di speciali cavi tesi fra la finestra campanaria della basilica dell’ Assunta e un grosso albero al centro della piazza antistante. Le bambine rappresentano la scena del Vangelo di Luca in cui l'arcangelo Gabriele annuncia alla Madonna Annunziata la nascita di Gesù. A metà percorso, tra il silenzio e la commozione della folla, le bambine lanciano petali di fiori sulla statua della Madonna posta al centro della piazza sotto di loro e cantano una lunga nenia di saluto accompagnate dalla musica della banda. Dopo questa toccante rappresentazione che si ripete anche la domenica, i fedeli accompagnano la statua della Madonna Annunziata in una composta processione per le vie del paese.V.N

The Angels' flight
On Saturday and Sunday after Easter in Prata di Principato Ultra, in the municipality of Avellino, a festival in honour of the Madonna Annunziata occurs. Two female children dressed up as an angel are hung in the air by special ropes which are tightened between the bell-window of the Basilica of the Assunta and a big tree in the middle of the before square. The female children represent the scene from the St. Luca’s Gospel in which the archangel Gabriele announces the Jesus’ birth to the Madonna Annunziata. On the half way, among the people’s silence and commotion, the children throw flowers’ petals on the statue of the Madonna that is in the centre of the square underneath them. They sing a long singsong accompanied by the band music. After this moving scene that recurs on Sunday, too, the devotees follow the Madonna’s statue in a procession through the village streets.
